Description

Name: Jazlyn
Kit Nickname: Cocoa / Hali'a ("sudden remembrance")
Age: 3 1/2 season cycles
Gender: She-cat

Voice Actor: Kristin Chenoweth

Tribe’s Tattoo: Yellow-Light
Profession: Healer
Skills:
Herbal Knowledge // Healing Small Wounds // Healing Medium Wounds// Concentrating Gaze // Healing Wounds // Double The Effort!

Personality:
{ Outgoing // Quirky // Optimistic // Curious //Forgetful // Sympathetic }

{ Outgoing } ~ Jazlyn isn't afraid to meet others cats, and is usually the first to interact with them. (However she doesn't understand personal space much, and will literally get in your face.) Once you meet her, she instantly calls you her best friend and will tell you any secret or even her life story - if you let her. This can also be a fault, because she will trust a cat the instant she meets them. Even if they break that trust.

{ Quirky } ~ This she-cat will probably be the weirdest healer you'll ever meet. She has a strange affinity for multi colored pebbles, leaves with tears in them, and fish scales (among many other things...). To go along with her misunderstanding of personal space, she enjoys having some physical contact with the other cat. A more subtle way would be to lay her tail lightly on yours to the more aggressive and obvious way of tackling you to the ground to nibble on your ear. Either way, she means it all in good fun. I mean, you are her best friend after all~

{ Optimistic } ~ Believing in the brighter side of things, Jazlyn is always trying to spread hope to her friends. If you see that it is a gloomy day and the prey are away, she'll make it her goal to make you smile. This optimism keeps her going in life, never worrying about the 'what ifs' that may come to her.

{ Curious } ~ To go along with her optimistic and outgoing behaviour, the Yellow-Light isn't afraid to ask questions or adventure somewhere unknown. She loves to learn and the only way she knows how is by being curious about everything. Often times this leads her to ask the silliest of questions. One thing that she is extremely curious about is the night, and is most often found wandering around in the dark.

{ Forgetful } ~ Sadly, she is a bit forgetful. Jazlyn may set off on one task, then end up doing something else that comes to her mind. Usually this leaves her tasks unfinished, like collecting herbs or hunting. She is trying to help herself by humming as she works.

{ Sympathetic } ~ Overall these other silly traits, Jazlyn knows when to act serious. It's what makes her a great healer when she can sympathize with injured cats. Most of the time she will soothe them with a song or touch them gently to show that she really does care about them. No cat is worthless in her eyes.

Backstory:

Being born into exile, Cocoa learned everything she knew about the tribes from her parents. And by parents, I mean her mother. This was due to the fact that her father had been a roaming tom who had affairs with many she-cats. He would woo them into a stupor, and then mate with them so that his bloodline would live forever in the kits that the she-cats bore. He wasn't a heartless tom like most would expect, though. He would stick around until he was sure the mother could handle the kits, then leave to find another female to mate with. Occasionally he came back to check up on his kits and play with them before leaving again. Cocoa enjoyed her father's presence, especially since she was the only female in her litter. The two were great friends when he visited, and one day he came up to her and her brothers with gifts that he had made. Being a Water-Triber, the tom was skilled in making accessories and had decided that in order for his kits to know that they were all related, they would wear stones on chains on their tails that matched their eye color. Learning how to balance the jewel on her tail was difficult for her brothers, but Cocoa learned it with ease. Their father left them that day, promising to return soon.
That day would never come, though. The night after that, their family's hollow was raided by two foxes that were caught on fire. Chasing after them was a dark Fire-Triber, who backed away when they saw the family fleeing from their burning home. As Cocoa and her family ran from the scorching foxes, she fell through a hole in the ground that gave way, hitting her head hard on the ground below. Before her mother and brothers could find her, a tree collapsed on top of the hole before the little kit could crawl out.
When the kit awoke, she found herself being carried away in tiny arms held closely to a soft gray breast. She was put into a nest in a tree and found herself nose to nose with a baby raccoon. Not understanding who she was or where she came from, she had no notion of being a cat. For a while, the kitten lived as a raccoon and was well cared for even though raccoons were known for eating small kits in the forest. It was from this time she the kit grew a fondness for the night.
The day that she got her tattoo was terrific. A bright light shone upon her forehead and the next night when the raccoon family awoke...chaos ensued. The raccoon mother hissed at the kit like she was a total stranger. In a furious fit, the raccoon snatched the kit in her jaws, and rushed down the tree to throw her to the ground. The kit landed on her rump and when she looked up crying for warmth...the raccoons were gone.
All alone, the kit wailed into the night until sunrise found her, starving on the forest floor. Suddenly, a shadow emerged from the bushes as a bushy Persian she-cat crept out. Smelling the scent of raccoons, she hissed at the young kit. The Persian growled as she scanned the area, and asked the young kit why she smelled of raccoons. The little kit mumbled a few words, her voice thick with the raccoon's chittery accent. The kit explained that she had been raised by them until this marking had appeared on her forehead and chest. The black she-cat approached the kit, to discover the Healer tattoo that she bore. Her round, deep violet eyes understood her powers and took the kit under her paw. To train her in the ways of the cat. The ways of the exile.
A few months after being taken in by the black Persian she-cat (who the kit now referred to as Ol' Nana), the kit was fully trained to be a proper cat...mostly. She retained some of her quirky aspects and gained many new ones, which kept the old cat on her paws. After asking many times about where the little kit's real family was, Ol' Nana had decided to name the kit Hali'a because of the irony in the meaning of the name to the kit's forgetful nature and her history of not remembering her past. For the time being though, the two enjoyed each other's company.
When Hali'a grew older, she helped Ol' Nana rescue other kittens around the exile territories, and learned to control her powers for healing. They lived and cared for each other for many seasons. Until a Silver-Air came into their lands. Ol' Nana had spotted the pale tomcat enter their territory and dashed to tell Hali'a the news. They listened to the tom's words, of war in the South. And how a tom by the name of Aiolos would lead the exiles back where they came from. Hesitant, the two snuck away back to their home, a scorched hollow, to discuss what they were to do. That night, Hali'a had terrible nightmares...of fire and of pain...of coughing and of screaming...she awoke with a gasp, her fur hot and her tongue panting.
The two she-cats watched as some of the exiles began their trek south. They had decided not to participate, and to instead stay in the northern lands. It wasn't a few days after the exiles had left that Ol' Nana began to run a fever. It lasted throughout the next season, as the leaves began to change. Hali'a did the best she could to help, but the black Persian she-cat knew that her time was coming soon. They had another she-cat with them, to aid Ol' Nana while Hali'a was away collecting herbs or resting.
One night while Hali'a was watching over Ol' Nana sleep, she gazed up at the stars in the clear sky above her. She prayed for the sickness to go away - and found that the brightest star in the sky twinkled brighter than ever before, its silver glow almost engulfing her. However, it wasn't just the glow, as her fur pricked with anticipation. In the blink of an eye, a story was told in her mind. Of travel. Of lands falling apart, torn in two, while a new air washed through the lands, shadows that turned the light dark. Hali'a felt an unbelievable burst of energy through her body as she saw many cats with colored tattoos sitting in a clearing. All looking. At her. A tale of renewal. Of travel. Of life.
When her vision ended, her limbs were trembling and she sat, staring wide eyed at the ground beneath her. What had happened, she asked herself? Hali'a heard Ol' Nana's raspy voice behind her:
"Look how the silver light shines as the yellow star floats down to greet you."
In fact, a leaf had floated down and landed on Hali'a's face, its green glow turned to yellow due to the changing season that was to come.
"I foretold this night many years ago when I first found you. I saw great potential in you, young one."
Turning around, the leaf fell off of Hali'a's face as she gazed into the pool of water beside them. Her black tattoo had transformed and now shined with the yellow hue that matched the leaf...which had now turned as dark as the Persian's fur.
"Now...go. They need you more than ever."
Hali'a argued that the old she-cat needed someone to look after her, that one Healer was not enough.
"Nonsense, child. I can surely take care of myself, you needn't worry about me! This was my destiny, after all. You need to follow your own path, now."
Reluctant to leave, Hali'a begged to stay with the old Persian until sunrise, but her request was declined. Ol' Nana strongly insisted that she needed to see the new Yellow-Light off before she rested once again. So, the chocolate Healer did as she wished, and padded toward the South, parting with her foster mother whom she had grown to love so dearly for the first - and last time.
"May the Spirits guide your path, young one. Your life will face many tough times ahead, but I have trained you well. I swear on my soul you will have the courage to overcome your enemies, and love to share to every new friend you meet." ~ The Black-Shadow, Ol' Nana
